Ranch Road Poach

"Man is born free, and everywhere he is in shackles."
- Jean-Jaque Rousseau

Aspen, CO is a very beautiful place. It’s also very exclusive. There are more gated roads restricting access than there are beggars in the whole Roaring Fork Valley. Not joking. So when you see an amazing sunset reflecting off a flawless pond, sometimes it’s best to throw caution to the wind. It was Rousseau who stated that land belongs to the people, and placing claim on the Earth is, in essence, a crime:

“The first man who had fenced in a piece of land, said “This is mine,” and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody.”

Rules are made to be broken, Aspen CO

Aside from rants and raves from the American (and French) Revolution, I can understand the idea of personal property. I’ve grown up in the United States my whole life, and materialism has become as important as patriotism. I just can’t help but stop and think about how we’ve gotten to this point. Even if I will never be able to afford a multi million dollar ranch on the shoulder of Red Mountain Road in Aspen, I can still get my kicks running around with a dSLR and a tripod over my shoulder, and feeling like a common thief. I guess it is the smaller things in life that make it worth living…

OUTSTANDING!!!! and even that word does not explain the talent you have for this photography thing. You’re like James Bond, but with a camera instead of a gun.
    Keep it up kid!!
